There is a new and exciting trend of people leaping from buildings into safety nets or on to nearby spectators. Jumping contests on YouTube, such as that by Matt Hughes, have more than 1.7 million subscribers. The fascination with this dangerous sport is due to the adrenaline rush it provides and the adrenaline rush that causes some to want to take on the risk of death. This highly addictive phenomenon has an element of danger and excitement which makes people want to take part in it and watch others do so as well. The number of people who go to YouTube and search for jumping has increased dramatically, and many of these people are young, leading to speculation that this trend is new. This becomes clear when it is examined through the lens of media exposure. There are thousands of videos on YouTube, and some big celebrities can be found there doing their own jump contests. The most popular one by far has more than 11 million views and reaches hundreds of thousands of people each day. If we take a look at the statistics on the popularity of jumping we see something interesting. Jumping is becoming more popular during the summer which is usually when school ends in America. Many youth spend their free time at home alone with nothing else to do but watch TV or YouTube videos. This may be why the trend is becoming more and more popular with younger and younger people. The number of people jumping from buildings or off bridges has been increasing in recent years, although it is unknown how many people have died from their injuries. In many countries, there are laws against jumping, but they are rarely enforced. In the United States for example, if a person jumps from a building and dies from the injury they can be charged with involuntary manslaughter, but this is very rare. Even if a person is charged the amount of punishment they get is often minimal because many of these jumpers claim that they did not realize that this jump would cause them serious harm. Several people have died after jumping from buildings or bridges. In 2016, a man who took part in a world record jump out of the 37th story of the Empire State Building died after he had jumped and fell 35 feet onto a concrete sidewalk. Missouri law makes it illegal for teens and young adults to jump from any building and these laws are very rarely enforced. Many organizations such as The American Academy of Pediatrics recommend that children should not be allowed to take part in these dangerous activities because they often do serious damage to their bodies when they fall from great heights. However, many people ignore these warnings and jump anyway because there is no way they can be held accountable for their actions when they are so young. The risk of injury is very large for anyone who decides to take part in a jump. People can die from this activity, and some people have broken bones that require surgery to repair after they have jumped off buildings or bridges. This practice can be dangerous even if it ends with a successful landing because there is no way to know if the risk is worth the reward. The new trend of jumping has made many people question the purpose of it. These people are still unaware of the risk involved with these activities, but they are nevertheless being marketed by various popular television shows on television such as MTV, just like many other new trends before them. cfa1e77820
